Inyo-Mono Association for the Handicapped
IMAH’s Workshop Day Program
Only adult day program for adults with developmental disabilities in
Inyo and Mono Counties, an area encompassing 13,000 square miles.
We provide transportation to and from the program, traveling 350 miles
per day.
Program includes a host of components including independent living
skills class, work adjustment training, pre-vocational training and selfadvocacy
training.
Offers money management curriculum that teaches the adults how to
make a budget, balance a checkbook and shop judiciously.
Our weekly nutrition program teaches clients the importance of eating
proper foods, how to plan a meal, shop, cook, serve and clean up.
Recreational Thursdays provides an opportunity for clients to
experience various outings that include tours of Alabama Hills, police
and fire stations, fishing, picnics, Mt. Whitney Portal and much more.
The clients plan the outing with staff guidance.
Our adults collate, copy, staple, stuff and label mailing for local
businesses and nonprofit organizations. The clients prepare all of the
mailings for the nonprofit agency that organizes a weeklong celebration
called Mule Days. The adults work faster and are less likely to
complain about the repetitive nature of the job.
For the past eight years IMAH’s special adults have colored eggs for the
community Easter egg hunt.
IMAH provides a safe haven for this underprivileged and often
overlooked population.
