A gift of time to families and caregivers
IMAH’s Respite Resort serves adults 18 to 59 who are developmentally disabled throughout the State of California.
What Is Respite?
Webster’s New World Dictionary defines respite as an interval of temporary relief or rest, as from pain, work, duty, etc.
IMAH’s Respite Resort provides families and caregivers with much needed relief from the stressful duties of taking care of their adults who are developmentally disabled.
Seeking relief from this type of duty may sound easy to you, but it is difficult for quite a few families. Many adults with developmental disabilities need special hygiene care, constant supervision and behavior modification. Redspite is not like babysitting, but is a demanding job for trained people who have patience and a caring attitude.

Why is Respite important?
Some families have not had a vacation from their special adult for over 40 years. Have you had a vacation this year? How about an evening out? Maybe all you want is a weekend in your own home, with peace and quiet.
IMAH’s Respite Resort provides that special gift of time to the many families who are desperately in need of relief.
Respite Resort serves families of adults who are developmentally disabled throughout the State of California.
